WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Washington’s Presidential Primary election results have been certified.
More than 1.7 million residents participated in the election, which represents over 35% of all registered voters. That’s the second most votes counted in any presidential primary in the state’s history, just behind a record turnout of nearly 50% in 2020.
Whatcom County saw a voter turnout of just over 40%.
Just over 83% of Washington voters chose current President Joe Biden as their preferred candidate for the Democratic Party. Notably, nearly 10% of Democratic voters selected “uncommitted delegates” as their choice.
Just over 75% of Republican voters opted for former president Donald Trump.
Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs said he was impressed with the turnout, considering both parties were down to clear frontrunners by the time of the election.
