BLAINE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Blaine Police are recommending juvenile assault charges be brought against a boy who is suspected of shooting other kids with a BB gun.
Officers responded to a call at about 5:30 Wednesday evening and detained four juveniles behind Blaine Primary School.
The suspect produced an orange and gray “Splat-R-Ball” brand 7.5 mm plastic rifle from his backpack, which the officers confiscated. They learned that the boy ambushed five other juveniles and shot them with BBs, causing painful welts all over their bodies. The suspect was turned over to his parents.
Blaine Police said that this was not harmless fun and that those who were shot could have suffered serious injuries, especially if they were hit in the eyes. They also warned that guns that shoot BBs, plastic pellets or other projectiles are covered under laws that ban discharging weapons within the city.
