BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham woman accused of attempted child murder has been released from jail.
Court documents state that a judge granted a motion to allow bail for 43-year-old Brenda Wilder-Brown on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
In his ruling, Whatcom County Superior Court Judge Lee Gorchmal stated that there wasn’t enough evidence to prove that Wilder-Brown currently posed an imminent risk of danger to herself or others.
As part of the court order, Wilder-Brown will be under supervision at her parents’ home in Alaska and needs to take her prescribed medications.
She posted the $50,000 cash bail and was released from the Whatcom County Jail also on Tuesday.
Wilder-Brown was arrested in May after a 4-year-old boy was found with a stab wound and over 15 superficial cuts at a Bellingham home. His 9-year-old sister told emergency dispatchers that she feared for her own life when she called 911.
Court documents state Wilder-Brown told investigators at the time that she had been playing with the children before experiencing a blackout period. She pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted murder in June and psychologists found her competent to stand trial.
Her next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4 and her trial is scheduled to begin on Nov. 30.
