WASHINGTON, D.C. (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Another participant in the Jan. 6 Capitol Breach from Washington pled guilty to a felony charge.

36-year-old Benjamin John Silva of Yacolt pled guilty before D.C.’s US District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras to one charge of civil disorder.

Court documents say Silva made his way at about 3 p.m. to the front of the crowd of rioters at the Lower West Terrace of the Capitol, colloquially known as the Tunnel. Some of the most violent attacks documented against officers occurred at the Tunnel.

Silva was seen to use his force, body and momentum in a coordinated “heave-ho” effort with others to get past the police line into the building. He then stayed in the Tunnel after some rioters left, attempting to push through the police line.

Silva was arrested in Oregon in July 2023 and is now scheduled for sentencing on Sept. 17 this year.
