The Mariners beat the Reds 5-1 today to cap off their first series win of the season.

Cal Raleigh got things started in the second inning with a solo home run.

Mitch Garver followed in the sixth with his first homer in a Mariners uniform.

And the M’s scraped three more runs together in the seventh as their offense seems to have finally hit its stride.

Bryce Miller went six innings in the start and only allowed one hit, a solo homer to Elly De La Cruz, for his third win of the season.

Seattle’s bullpen held up its end and tossed three scoreless innings to finish the job.

The M’s improve to 9-10 with the win and have won three straight after their series sweep against the Reds.

They have the day off tomorrow before traveling to the Mile-High City to face the Rockies.

The Kraken extended their losing streak ahead of tomorrow’s season finale.

Tyler Toffoli broke a third-period tie to lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-3 win over Seattle last night on KPUG.

Kyle Connor scored two first-period goals for the Jets, but scores from Yanni Gourde, Tomos Tatar and Tye Kartye evened the game up heading into the third period.

Toffoli scored during a power play with just over eight minutes left to secure the win for Winnipeg.

The win clinched second place in the Central Division for the Jets and home-ice advantage in their first-round playoff series with the Colorado Avalanche.

It was also their seventh-straight win.

Philipp Grubauer stopped 20 shots for the Kraken in their fourth straight loss.

They’ll play the last game of their season tomorrow afternoon against the Minnesota Wild.

Coverage begins at 3:30 and puck drops at 4:00 on KPUG.

A key member of the Legion of Boom will retire in Seattle.

Former Seahawks punter Jon Ryan signed a one-day contract with the team yesterday.

The 42-year-old spent 10 of his 12 NFL seasons in Seattle, where he averaged nearly 45 yards per punt.

He’s best-known for his 19-yard touchdown pass on a fake field goal in the 2015 NFC Championship that ignited their comeback win against the Packers.

Since then, he’s dipped into the business side of baseball as the co-owner of the Bellingham Bells’ West Coast League rival Portland Pickles.

And a former Seattle prep basketball star is part of an unprecedented scandal in the NBA.

Toronto Raptors forward and Nathan Hale alum Jontay Porter was banned for life from the league today after an investigation found that he bet on games he played in.

In the announcement by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, he called Porter’s actions “blatant.”

Porter is only the second person to be banned by Commissioner Silver for violating league rules, joining former Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Jontay and his brother Michael led Nathan Hale to a perfect 29-0 record and the 3A state title in 2017.
