BELLINGHAM, WA – (MyBellinghamNow.com) A person was hit and killed on the Guide Meridian early on Friday, May 10.

The Washington State Patrol reports that a van struck the 31-year-old woman as she walked in the right southbound lane near Smith Road just after 3:30 a.m.

The driver from Lynden stopped and called in the accident.

The woman died at the scene.

Troopers say she was from Seattle but have not released any other information about her.

The investigation closed the Guide for several hours in both directions.
