BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Every Fourth of July, people around the country spend the national holiday with food, family and fireworks.
But as the summer wildfire season begins, the City of Bellingham has a reminder for those who plan to set off fireworks in just a few weeks.
City officials say all consumer fireworks are banned within Bellingham city limits. That includes any and all fireworks purchased legally at stands around Whatcom County like sparklers, smokeballs and roman candles.
Many fireworks are legally considered explosive devices and are banned across the state. Examples of these are M-80s, cherry bombs and any other improvised explosive device.
Instead, the city is encouraging residents to enjoy the 4th of July fireworks display over Bellingham Bay.
