PORTLAND, OR (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Heads up, pet owners: a regional pet food manufacturer has issued a recall.

According to the recall notice filed with the FDA, Northwest Naturals says that testing found unsafe levels of salmonella and listeria in two of its products.

Their 2-lb bags of Frozen Chicken Recipe for cats and 6-lb bags of Frozen Raw Diet for Dogs Chicken Recipe are impacted by the recall. Both products have sell-by dates of January 2028.

So far, no illnesses have been reported in either cats or dogs that consumed the food.

Pets that eat food contaminated with listeria or salmonella can develop serious symptoms like diarrhea, decreased appetite and a fever.

Infected pets can also transmit the disease among other animals and humans.

Anyone who bought the affected products can return them to the store for a full refund.
