WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Ballots for this year’s primary election will be in mailboxes across Whatcom County over the coming days.

The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office mailed out ballots on Wednesday, July 17, for the Aug. 6 primary election. The ballots were mailed out following a local voter’s guide was sent on Monday.

Several local issues will be decided in Whatcom County, including a $157.5 million bond to build a new Lynden High School and three measures for local fire stations.

Next month’s primary will also narrow the race for U.S. Senator and state Governor down to two candidates.

Anyone who still needs to register or update their registration online or by mail must do so by Monday, July 29. Drop boxes are now open until 8 p.m. on Aug. 6 and mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Aug. 6 to qualify.
