WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Health officials warn of a new recall for milk sold across western Washington, including in Whatcom County.

The Washington State Department of Health issued the alert on Aug. 29 for Jim’s Jerseys raw milk, produced by Old Silvana Creamery in Arlington.

It was recalled after routine testing by the Washington State Department of Agriculture found the presence of E. coli. The recall only applies to the raw milk with a “best buy” date of Aug. 23, sold in half gallon and gallon containers.

The milk was sold at the farm store and various retail outlets across western Washington, including the Community Food Co-op in Bellingham and Cost Cutter in Blaine.

Several local and state agencies, along with Old Silvana Creamery, are investigating the potential contamination. The health department says there haven’t been any reported sicknesses from the product yet.

Anyone who purchased the raw milk in question should return it to the original store from which it was bought for a full refund.
