MOSCOW, ID (AP, MyBellinghamNow.com) – The trial of the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students will not take place in the city where the crimes occurred.
The suspect’s attorneys originally said they want the trial to be moved from Moscow to Boise or another large city.
The judge overseeing Bryan Kohberger’s trial cited concerns about finding impartial jurors and sensationalized media coverage in his order to move the trial out of Moscow, ID. He added that the Latah County courthouse is too small to oversee the trial and doesn’t have ample staffing for such a large case.
It has not yet been specified where the trial will be moved.
Kohberger, a former criminal justice student at Washington State University, faces four counts of murder in the deaths of Ethan Chapin of Skagit County and three Idaho women. The trial is set for June 2025 and expected to last three months.
