PORTLAND, ME (AP, MyBellinghamNow.com) — The ongoing investigation into the Titan submersible’s implosion continues.
Former employees of the Washington state company OceanGate are scheduled to testify before the Coast Guard investigatory board at an upcoming hearing.
The Oceangate Titan submersible was an experimental voyager that imploded on its way to the wreck of the Titanic in June 2023. Following the death of all five people on board, the U.S. Coast Guard convened a high-level investigation into the incident. The inquiry is set to reach its public hearing phase on Sept. 16.
The witness list includes Guillermo Sohnlein—the co-founder of OceanGate—as well as coast guard officials, directors, scientists and more.
The time frame for the investigation into the loss of the submersible was initially a year, but the inquiry has taken longer.
OceanGate has declined to comment publicly on the Coast Guard’s investigation.
