Western Washington’s women’s soccer team is dancing its way to the national tournament.

The Lady Viks fell to Simon Frasier in the GNAC title game over the weekend.

But they were selected yesterday as an at-large bid to the 56-team national field.

The Vikings won the GNAC regular-season title and had their 15-game unbeaten streak snapped against Simon Frasier in Saturday’s conference championship.

They’ll now compete in the NCAA D-II tournament for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons after earning a fifth seed.

The Viks will travel to Pomona, CA to face 4th-seeded Azusa Pacific in the first round of the tournament at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Speaking of postseason soccer, the Sounders are gearing up for a massive match this weekend.

They’re on the road facing LAFC in the Western Conference semifinals.

Seattle has struggled against LAFC in recent seasons, having lost their last ten matches.

LAFC had the best regular season record in the Western Conference and has reached the MLS Cup finals in each of the past two years.

But the Sounders enter the match with momentum from their back-to-back shootout wins over Houston to sweep the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.

LAFC squeaked by Vancouver with a 1-0 win in the deciding Game 3 of their opening series.

Saturday’s game takes place at 7:30

Skiers and snowboarders finally have an answer as to when their season begins in the North Cascades.

Gwyn Howat with the Mount Baker Ski Area says that enough snow fell over the weekend to cement their 2024 opening dates.

Baker Passholders can hit the slopes starting tomorrow and everyone else can join them at Heather Meadows on Thursday.

Heather Meadows has a nearly 5-foot snow base, with 65 inches reported at Pandome.
