The Predators, meanwhile, have lost six of their last eight games.

Seattle won their earlier matchup this season 7-3.

A Bellingham native is returning home to Washington following the Mariners’ first trade of the offseason.

The M’s acquired infielder Austin Shenton from the Tampa Bay Rays last night in exchange for cash.

Shenton, a Bellingham High School alum, played his first game in the majors in April.

He was originally taken in the fifth round of the 2019 MLB Draft by Seattle.

Shenton hit 20 home runs and 65 RBIs last season in Triple-A ball.

A former Mariners coach earned a league-wide honor yesterday.

Cleveland’s Stephen Vogt was voted American League Manager of the Year.

He led the Guardians to 92 wins and a division title in his first year as a skipper at any level.

Vogt had served as the Mariners’ bullpen coach in 2023 just a year after retiring as a player.

One of the core members of the Legion of Boom is being considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Former Seahawks safety Earl Thomas was among the 25 modern-era players who were announced as semifinalists for the Hall of Fame Class of 2025 today.

Thomas made six Pro Bowls and was named an All-Pro three times during his 10 seasons in Seattle.

He was also a major part of their 2013 Super Bowl-winning team.

Other names on the list of nominations include Eli Manning, Antonio Gates, Reggie Wayne, Terrell Suggs and Luke Kuechly.

The selection committee will next reduce the list to 15 finalists, who will then be voted on at the annual meeting before the Super Bowl.

Players need 80% approval to get in and only five modern-era players can make it.
