OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Washington state representatives and senators in Washington D.C. announced that $56 million is coming to our state.

Of those funds, $19.5 million will go to Skagit Transit’s Maintenance Facility Renovation.

According to Rep. Rick Larsen, the money will be used to replace the current facility with one that can deliver on its goal of meeting the region’s transportation needs.

$2 million was also awarded to the City of Lynden for their Pepin FASST Project, which works to relocate Pepin Creek and reduce flooding.

Sen. Maria Cantwell says that the money will help finalize plans that would protect homes and farms as well as build pedestrian and bike paths and provide better habitat for fish.

The money comes from Sen. Patty Murray’s RAISE grant program, which focuses on equitable and sustainable infrastructure reconstruction.
