BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A local neighborhood received an impressive turnout for a community clean-up over the weekend.
Bellingham Parks and Recreation says 82 volunteers showed up to its work party at Rock Hill Park on Saturday, the most of any clean-up at the park. The volunteers helped remove 10 cubic yards of invasive species and planted 45 native trees and shrubs. They also cleared out 2 cubic yards of trash from the park in York Neighborhood.
Parks and Rec tells MBN that its all-time record for volunteer turnout was 504 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January 2020.
The city’s next community work party takes place from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, Feb. 1, at Forest and Cedar Park near WWU.
All ages are welcome, and tools, gloves and instructions are all provided.
