WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – If your home was damaged by the “bomb cyclone” event last November, Whatcom County officials need to hear from you as soon as possible.
The Whatcom County’s Division of Emergency Management says March 3 is the deadline for residents who were severely impacted by the storm to apply for financial assistance.
Washington state is offering aid for anyone whose home suffered “major damage” or was destroyed during the storm. Qualifying residents can apply to be reimbursed for extended sheltering, home repairs and certain other unmet needs that were caused by the disaster.
The bomb cyclone hit the Pacific Northwest on the evening of Nov. 19, 2024. Sudden Valley received the worst of it in Whatcom County, with roughly 23 homes that were hit by trees and at least four residents who were displaced, though no one was reported injured.
