BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Access to the Sehome Arboretum will be interrupted as construction continues on a long-anticipated project.

Bellingham Parks and Recreation says Arboretum Drive is closed through April 15 while crews install electrical service for the House of Healing.

The building is a Coast Salish-style longhouse that will be located at the south end of the arboretum. Western Washington University says it will serve as an educational center to promote healing, cultural exchange and supportive understanding for the Western community.

The house is expected to be finished by this fall.

Once complete, it will include a gathering hall, indoor and outdoor kitchens and student lounges.

The electrical installation that just got underway will also bring an EV charging station to the road along the arboretum.
