CUSTER, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Blaine man was killed in a suspected DUI crash in Custer on Monday morning.

Washington State Patrol says the incident occurred on I-5 near Custer School Road at around 7:30 a.m.

The driver, identified as 34-year-old Mark Bunch, was driving in the northbound lane when he veered off the road and hit a tree. Bunch was declared dead at the scene.

There were no other passengers in the car and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The highway was blocked for roughly half an hour following the accident.
