BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Port of Bellingham looks like it has a new commissioner as the dust settles from Tuesday’s general election.
Carly James is leading incumbent Ken Bell by nearly 1,500 votes with just 50 ballots left to count in the latest tally released on Thursday, Nov. 6 by the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office.
James was trailing after the initial count and led by less than 100 votes prior to this most recent tally.
She’s the co-owner of Bison Bookbinding & Letterpress, which is located in downtown Bellingham near the waterfront.
None of the other races for seats on the county council or Bellingham City Council saw much change from past counts.
The auditor estimates voter turnout at just under 45%.
The next ballot count will be released a week from Friday, Nov. 7 before the election is certified on Nov. 25.
