The Mariners have the day off today before hitting the road for the first time this season.

The M’s ended their first week of the season with a 3-4 record.

Their offense struggled against the Yankees, combining for five runs over three games. But their pitching has been among the best in the league, leading the majors in quality starts while ranking third in strikeouts.

Offseason addition Brendan Donovan has also been a bright spot, as his 10 hits are good for third in the MLB.

The team will kick off a three-game series in Anaheim tomorrow night against the Angels with Bryan Woo taking the mound. Coverage begins at 6:00 and first pitch is at 7:04 on KPUG.

Kraken News

The Kraken are back tonight as they continue their fight for a playoff spot.

They’re looking to break their recent woes in a home matchup with the Utah Mammoth.

The struggling Kraken have dropped 10 of their last 13 matches amid a dead heat for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference. They currently sit three points behind the LA Kings.

The Mammoth meanwhile have had a successful second season in the NHL, owning the sixth-best record in the West. Coverage begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KPUG.

A top player on the Seahawks’ division rivals and former Husky is trying to get a handle on his controversial last couple months.

An attorney for LA Rams star receiver Puka Nacua says he’s checked into rehab. His lawyer says Nacua was in rehab before a woman sued him last month, claiming that he made an antisemitic comment on New Year’s Eve before biting her on the shoulder.

He added that the decision to enter rehab was not a direct response to the lawsuit, but an attempt to improve his overall behavior.

Nacua, who played for the UW Huskies, issued an apology last December after performing a gesture that plays upon antisemitic tropes while appearing on a livestream. He’s coming off a season where he led the league with 129 catches and had over 1,700 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns as an All-Pro.

A pair of Western softball players are in the national spotlight.

Vikings junior third baseman Maleah Andrews and senior shortstop Hailey Rath were each part of the West Region’s selections for the D-II Player of the Year Watchlist. Up to 15 players were chosen from each of the eight regions for the list.

Rath leads the GNAC in home runs and RBI while Andrews is riding a 15-game hit streak as a reigning First Team All-American.

The Viks continue their season tomorrow with a doubleheader against Northwest Nazarene. The first game starts at noon from Viking Field.

FIFA World Cup News

The World Cup is now all set after the final six teams punched their tickets to the tournament. 

Bosnia and Herzegovina stunned the world by beating Italy on Tuesday.  Italy will miss the World Cup for the third straight time. 

Turkey, Sweden, Czechia, Iraq and the Democratic Republic of Congo also all qualified after playoff wins. 

The 2026 FIFA World Cup runs from June 11 to July 19 with matches played in the US, Canada and Mexico.
