MOUNT BAKER, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – If you enjoy hiking in the North Cascades, you are in luck.
WSDOT announced Wednesday, June 10 that they have officially reopened the road to Artist Point.
Crews have been working since May to remove over 20 feet of snow from the stretch of the highway from Heather Meadows.
Trails and signs at the popular hiking spot are still covered in deep snow, so anyone heading up should plan accordingly. Vault toilets and trash cans are available for use.
Visitors will need a recreational pass to use the area which can be purchased at the Glacier Public Service Center.
During the summer season, nearly 40,000 people visit Artist Point to hike and take in the spectacular views.
