LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A fast-moving wildfire over the border is impacting air quality in our region.

Monitoring website IQ Air reports that the Columbia Valley, Kendall and parts of Lynden are dealing with air quality that is unhealthy for sensitive groups.

It comes as fire crews in B.C. are working to contain the Brunswick Creek Fire, which has been burning since Thursday, July 2.

As of Monday afternoon, the wildfire has burned over 3,000 acres, prompting evacuation orders within the Fraser Canyon area. Winds are blowing the smoke down the Fraser River, leading to smoky conditions in parts of Whatcom County.

The NWCAA has not yet issued an air quality alert as a result of the wildfire.
