Mariners News
The Mariners are calling up their top prospect and the top pitching prospect in baseball.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports the team is planning to start left-handed pitcher Kade Anderson on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.
The 22-year-old has a 1.06 ERA over 93 1/3 innings with 135 strikeouts and just 13 walks for Double-A Arkansas this season.
Seattle picked him third overall in the 2025 draft out of LSU.
The Mariners couldn’t end their road trip on a high note this afternoon.
They fell to the Brewers 7-4 in Milwaukee. George Kirby gave up six runs in a nightmare first inning and, despite a strong showing from the bullpen, the M’s couldn’t make up for the lost ground.
Brendan Donovan kept up his recent hot streak with a pair of hits, including a two-run double.
The M’s now await the result of tonight’s game between the Astros and Angels to see where they stand in the division race, currently trailing Houston by four and a half games.
Next up, the Mariners are back home tomorrow for the start of a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs. Coverage begins at 6:00 and first pitch is at 7:10 on KPUG with Emerson Hancock on the mound.
Meanwhile, the team could soon be getting their longest-tenured player back.
Mariners insider Shannon Drayer reports that infielder J.P. Crawford is set to begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma tonight.
Crawford has been out since July 30 with left wrist inflammation. It continues an injury-filled year for the veteran, who also sat out stretches of the season with shoulder inflammation and a hand contusion.
He’s batting .212 with 10 homers in 87 games for the M’s this season while earning the second most walks on the team.
Crawford, who’s been with the team since 2019, is set to become a free agent after the season ends.
Sounders/Reign News
The Sounders’ historic woes dragged on last night.
They fell 2-1 to Austin FC to extend their franchise-record losing streak to eight games. Austin scored the first two goals of the match after a scoreless first half and a late goal by Seattle’s Stuart Hawkins wasn’t enough.
The Sounders will look to snap their skid in Cincinnati on Sunday.
Over in the NWSL, the Reign lost to Racing Louisville 2-1. It snapped Seattle’s four match unbeaten streak, as the Reign now prepare for Saturday’s match in Kansas City.
LLWS News
The team from Washington state kicked off their Little League World Series run yesterday.
Tacoma rallied late to get the 2 to 0 win over Phenix City, Alabama.
Alabama pitcher Kinley Rasmus tied the record for most strikeouts by a girl in a LLWS game, but it wasn’t enough to stop the bats from Tacoma.
Next up, Tacoma takes on Boerne, TX at noon tomorrow.
Seahawks News
The sale of the Seahawks is one step closer to completion.
The Seattle Times reports that the NFL’s finance and ownership policy committee unanimously recommended approval of the sale to a group led by the Khosla family.
That recommendation will now be forwarded to league owners who will vote to approve the sale at a special league meeting next Wednesday in Atlanta. It needs approval from 24 out of the 32 owners.
The Khosla family won the right to buy the Seahawks from the Allen Estate last month at an NFL-record price of $9.6 billion.
