PORTLAND, OR (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Pacific Northwest train travelers are still dealing with the after effects of a warehouse fire.
Amtrak said in an update that their Cascades service between Seattle and Portland will remain suspended through Wednesday, Aug. 19.
My Bellingham Now previously reported that an 8-story abandoned building near the train tracks in Portland went up in flames Aug. 2.
At the time of the initial train service suspension, the building was at risk of collapse and search dogs detected human remains inside.
City of Portland officials said Monday, Aug. 17 that demolition crews safely imploded a water tower on top of the building.
Amtrak adds that some of its alternative bus services to and from Portland may be cancelled due to staff availability, and anyone impacted by the cancellations is eligible for a full refund.
