BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – More than a dozen healthcare workers are being laid off in Bellingham.

PeaceHealth announced in a WARN notice to the Washington State Employment Security Department that it’s eliminating 150 positions across Washington on Nov. 20.

Those layoffs include 17 employees in Bellingham, nine at St. Joseph Medical Center and eight at PeaceHealth’s Chestnut Building. The affected positions range from applications developers and field services analysts to client engineers and network administrators.

PeaceHealth spokesperson Jim Murez said in a statement to My Bellingham Now that they’re continuing their transition of several IT services in November. They expect the final number of layoffs to be under 250 workers, which equates to just under 1.5% of PeaceHealth’s workforce.

The Columbian reported that PeaceHealth is outsourcing the work to India-based Tech Mahindra and its U.S.-based subsidiary, The HCI Group.

PeaceHealth says the level of technology support “will not decrease” at its physical locations.

It comes after PeaceHealth laid off 26 workers in Bellingham earlier this year and 56 more in December 2025.
