SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Authorities are asking for the public’s help amid reports of police impersonators on Skagit County highways.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) sent out a news release on Tuesday, Oct, 20, asking for any information on police impersonators in the Skagit Valley area.
The agency specifically mentioned that it’s actively seeking information on sightings of a Ford Crown Victoria with push bars that’s impersonating police.
According to WSP Trooper Kelsey Harding, there have been eight 911 calls regarding police impersonators in Skagit County since Jan. 1, 2026. She says the release was not issued in relation to any specific incident.
Harding added that it’s hard to say how many of the reported impersonators were actual offenders, since the descriptions could easily have been referring to unmarked police cars.
Regardless, anyone who believes they have seen a police impersonator on state highways is asked to contact Trooper Ryan Thomas at ryan.thomas@wsp.wa.gov.
