BELLINGHAM, Wash. – An international energy company has opened a new battery factory in Bellingham.
Norway-based Corvus Energy celebrated the grand opening of its new plant January 25th.
CEO Geir Bjorkeli spoke to a gathering that included Governor Jay Inslee, U.S. Representative Rick Larsen, Norway’s Ambassador to the U.S. and others.
“Many of you may wonder why we ended up in Fairhaven, in Bellingham,” said Bjorkeli. “When we came out saying that we’d like to open a facility in America. The Port of Bellingham talked to us directly and said they were very interested in having us up here in Bellingham.”
Corvus’ Bellingham facility is located at 300 Harris Avenue and is producing battery modules for low and zero emission marine vessels and infrastructure.
It’s been operating since November and has already delivered some orders.
