LUMMI NATION, Wash. – Students from the Lummi Nation School had an out-of-this-world experience during a visit to the University of Washington on Friday, February 10th.

The nine select students had the rare opportunity to hold a live Q&A session with an astronaut currently living on the International Space Station.

The students had previously sent a plant known as “Devils Club” to the Space Station as a science project and got to see in real time how the botanical venture went, getting nearly a half hour to ask questions to astronaut Josh Cassada.

The event, hosted by the University of Washington and the Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium, is part of a mission to enhance education opportunities for students interested in STEM programs.

You can view the full Q&A session on the Washington Space Grant YouTube page.
