BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A passenger who boarded an Alaska-bound ferry in Bellingham has been arrested for attempting to smuggle a hefty amount of tortilla-wrapped meth.

Court documents state that an Alaska State Trooper received a tip about the passenger bringing at least ten pounds of methamphetamine from Oregon to Alaska.

The trooper contacted police in Ketchikan, where a search warrant was granted for the passenger’s room last Friday, February 17th.

Police found a duffel bag with over 20 pounds of meth wrapped in tortillas “like burritos.”

The passenger, 43-year-old Michael Davis of Oregon, was taken into custody.

On Saturday, February 18th, undercover agents arrested Rodney and Nannette Brown, the intended recipients of the methamphetamine shipment.

Investigators recovered nine weapons, $70,000 in cash, and more meth at the Browns’ Alaska residence.

All three have pled not guilty to drug smuggling charges.
