BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The City of Bellingham is still working to balance public restroom availability with safety following an overdose death at the Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.
A person was found dead of an overdose in a bathroom stall on April 5th.
Parks and Recreation Director Nicole Oliver says they are still allowing public access to restrooms and showers at the facility.
But they have reinstated contract security that had lapsed because of what she calls “purchasing delays” and staffing shortages.
But she says they are talking with homeless outreach services on how the service might be relocated.
