OLYMPIA, Wash. – A Skagit County man is preparing to launch an initiative that would roll back some of Washington’s gun control measures.
Larry Jensen’s initiative would exempt lawful gun owners from the assault weapon ban just passed by the state legislature.
They would also be allowed to possess and buy high capacity gun magazines and be exempt from some provisions of the citizen-passed Initiative 1639.
The initiative would prohibit Washington state from enacting any restriction on guns not provided by federal law.
It would also expressly prohibit confiscation of weapons without due process.
Initiative sponsor Tim Eyman, who is not directly involved in this campaign, says Jensen will officially launch a petition drive this Sunday, May 21st, on Whidbey Island to get it on the ballot.
