CALGARY, Alberta – Early season wildfires in Alberta brought some red skies to western Washington last week.

Now the state is among a handful of others sending their own crews to help tackle the growing flames.

KING 5 reports 125 fire crewmembers from Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana will make their way across the border in the coming days.

The decision to send crews and equipment is part of an international agreement between western US states and Canadian provinces.

As of this morning, over 90 fires are burning throughout Alberta.

The province has also been struggling with abnormally dry weather, making firefighting efforts more difficult.
