Whatcom County native and former Washington State University athletic director Jim Sterk is coming to Western Washington University to take the job as WWU’s Athletic Director. Sterk is a graduate of Nooksack Valley High School and WWU. He played football for the Vikings and is a member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

Sterk has made many stops in his career, most recently as the athletic director at the University of Missouri. He replaces Steve Card, who just entered retirement following the completion of the school year.
