BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Whatcom County Fire Marshal Office will not be reducing the burn ban to allow campfires during the Labor Day weekend.

They say that though we have had rain over the last few days, it is not enough to reduce the fire danger.

With the Sourdough, Blue Canyon, and Coal Creek fires still actively burning here in Whatcom County, officials do not want to further tax local fire fighters with the threat of other brush and wildland fires.

The office stated with the weather forecast improving they hope to reduce the ban back to a Stage 1 within the next couple of weeks.
