BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An annual event in Bellingham for bike lovers is moving into a bigger space.
Shifting Gears will host their seventh annual Bellingham Bike Swap this Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Executive Director Diane Bedell said they’ll be welcoming sellers and buyers at Fisherman’s Pavilion in Zuanich Park this year.
“This is the first year for us to be at the pavilion. Previous years we were at Boundary Bay [Brewery], and it was a great location, but we had definitely outgrown it,” Bedell said in an interview with My Bellingham Now. “And then, of course, they closed. In previous years, there have been hundreds of bikes to choose from.”
Prospective buyers can get discounted prices on bikes, parts, gear and other equipment. 30% of the event’s proceeds will go towards Shifting Gears’ programs, which extend far beyond mountain and road biking.
Bedell listed some of their offerings, including sea kayaking every Wednesday.
“We offer backpacking and bikepacking, and even monthly climbing nights at Vital Climbing Gym,” she added.
Sellers can pre-register their wares ahead of time on Shifting Gears’ website.
