WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Has the smell of smoke on the air been bugging you? Do you struggle with allergies come springtime? Is your sleep lacking?
Smoke season is expected to carry on past the height of summer in Washington, and keeping you and your loved ones healthy during this time doesn’t always need something jerry-rigged in front of entry points to the home.
Air filtration systems can be used in residential spaces for many reasons, including allergies, sleep improvement and protecting air quality.
Even though fall time isn’t known for allergens in the air like spring is, it doesn’t mean you’re always going to be in the clear. The Washington State Department of Health says that as we see warm weather for greater parts of the year, the amount of time you may be sniffly from particles in the air may take up more time.
And, even if you feel like you and your family are handling the elements well, this season has not been as bad for air quality as we’ve seen in recent years. Future investments can be even more important for yourself and the health of your loved ones as what you do for the here and now.
Getting ahead of bad weather can sometimes feel overly cautious. But think about next season when things are floating in the air and making your eyes red, your throat hurt and your nose run. Giving yourself that peace of mind now instead of later may be something to consider, especially as this year’s fire season is shaping up to be one of the worst yet for the state.
“Installing an advanced air filtration system in your homes ducted system is not as difficult as it may seem! All ducted systems have a filter, it’s just a matter of how efficient of a filter it is,” Phillip Dye, HVAC expert with Feller Heating, said.
Dye says that 1-inch paper filters are the least efficient/effective, but do a better job than having nothing.
“Jumping up to a 4-inch thick media filter, preferably MERV 11 or MERV 13 is ideal, and what we install as our standard filter when replacing an HVAC system, is a large step in the right direction,” he continued.
“But best of all, there are a few options out there when it comes to electronic air cleaners, and/or air purifiers that can be installed in-line with your ducted HVAC system! Even if you are not getting a new HVAC system installed, we can still install a new filtration system to preserve your current system, help with health related issues and keep families safe throughout the state with clean, filtered air,” Dye said.
Whole-home air cleaners can remove up to 99% of particulates that pass through the system, making the air you breathe free of dust, dander, dirt, viruses and other irritants.
“Knowing that your home is protected and is a safe place to escape from the wildfire smoke has exponential benefits, and something that we can help with here at Feller Heating!” Dye said.
