BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The FIFA World Cup festivities in the Pacific Northwest are off and running this summer.

Bellingham’s Fan Zone watch parties were lively during U.S. Men’s National Team’s two games that culminated in a loss to Belgium 3-2 Monday, July 6, knocking them out of the World Cup. Below are photos from the Bellingham Sportsplex where young soccer fans played their own games as the match played out on several screens, as well as some photos from The Den Sportsbar as the USMNT fell to Belgium.

Schweinhaus Biergarten was packed for many of the games these last few weeks, and U.S.’s match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 1 was no different. The line to order food and beverages stretched across most of the establishment with crowds decked out in red, white and blue throughout.

Seattle was a hot bed of activity during the third match at Seattle Stadium (temporarily renamed Lumen Field) when Bosnia and Hervegovina took on Qatar in a noon match up on Wednesday, June 24. A march for Bosnia and Hervegovina fans led from Waterfront Park to the stadium several hours before the match began, with a few Qatari supporters in the mix.

Bosnia and Herzegovina won over Qatar 3-1 in an exciting match nearly solidifying their chances of playing against the U.S. on Wednesday, July 1. Below are some photos from the match and the march beforehand.

Bellingham was designated an Official Fan Zone for the World Cup due to the proximity of the city to Vancouver, B.C. and Seattle. Watch parties abound in the city of subdued excitement, including a block party hosted by The Den and The Wild Buffalo on Friday, June 19. Elsewhere, people are out watching games at Kulshan Trackside and Menace Brewing. Below are some photos from the block party and other spots around Bellingham.
