OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Washington has reached settlements in a nationwide generic drug price-fixing case.

Washington’s Attorney General Nick Brown says the state joined a coalition of states and territories in settling allegations against generic drug manufacturers Ascend Laboratories, Citron Pharma and Mayne Pharma.

The companies were accused of conspiring to inflate prices and limit competition for generic prescription drugs.

Ascend will pay $400,000 to the states, while Mayne will pay $650,000.

Citron, which is no longer operating, agreed to non-monetary terms.

The latest agreements follow a separate settlement reached last month involving six other generic drug manufacturers. A motion seeking preliminary approval of a $400 million settlement with Sandoz Incorporated and Fougera Pharmaceuticals was filed earlier this month.

Consumers who purchased generic prescription drugs between May 2009 and December 2019 are encouraged to file a preliminary claim.
