Sea Kayaker Ian Sawyer of Pacific North Sports finishes first in Ski to Sea 2026 with Esteban Juranovics of Marr’s coming in nearly 30 seconds after.
It completes the full reopening of the 350-acre park following two flood-related closures.
There will also be several events in Bellingham and Ferndale on Monday.
The new location will likely be ready for the public by January 2027.
KGMI will have live coverage of the 2026 Ski to Sea race from the starting line at Heather Meadows starting at 7 a.m. and then again starting at 1 p.m. from Marine Park in Fairhaven.
The season lasts from May 23 through June 30, though it could end earlier depending on catch counts.
This week is Healthy and Safe Swimming Week.
