BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A jury trial is underway in the case of an Everson man accused of killing his father.

23-year-old Ethan Knight is facing a first-degree premeditated murder charge in connection to the death of 46-year-old Michael Knight in Jan. 2022. The younger Knight told officers that he had shot his father in self-defense after his father pointed a gun at him.

Prosecutors argue that cell phone evidence supports the fact that Michael Knight never had a gun when he was killed. Ethan Knight was initially charged with second-degree murder, but the cell phone evidence prompted investigators to upgrade the charge in Nov. 2022.

Knight’s trial began last Monday, Feb. 26.
