BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Pro-Palestine protesters at Western Washington University have reached an agreement with the school that will end their encampment on campus.
WWU President Sabah Randhawa said in an email to students and staff on Wednesday, May 29 that the final agreement will be shared on Friday, May 31. The agreement will end a more than two-week-long protest where upwards of 70 tents were pitched on the lawn in front of Old Main.
MyBellinghamNow contacted protest organizers for comment on the agreement and stated that they will be sharing information publicly on Thursday, May 30 at 5 p.m. in front of Old Main. Organizers were also asked what the agreement entails, but no further information was provided.
Randhawa says the students involved in the encampment have agreed to leave by 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 30.
Organizers have stated they want Western to divest from weapons manufacturers, including Boeing.
The university claims it does not have affiliations with such companies but are open to adjusting their investment practices.
