BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) — The Whatcom Youth Pride Coalition hosted the 2024 Pride Parade and Festival, continuing its mission to celebrate and support LGBTQIA+ youth in Whatcom County.
Formed in late 2018 by a group of volunteers including school staff, educators, parents and community members, the coalition held its first parade event in June 2019. This unique parade, one of the nation’s only all-youth pride events, featured LGBTQIA+ youth, allies and families marching along a short route lined with supportive community members.
The 2024 event showcased a vibrant mix of performances, food trucks, a maker space, a queer youth art market and a youth-led drag and talent show.
Lindsay Anderson, a volunteer at the event says, “Everyone deserves belonging and representation.”
The WYPC remains committed to providing a safe and inclusive space where LGBTQIA+ youth can express themselves and feel supported by their community.
