FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Construction on Main Street in Ferndale could cause headaches for drivers on Tuesday, June 4.

The city says there will be multiple lane and sidewalk closures between Hovander Road and the Walgreens for an inspection of the BNSF Railway Bridge.  The eastbound lane and sidewalk will be closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the westbound lane and sidewalk will be closed from 1 to 4:30 pm.  Those times are approximate.

Traffic will be lane-shifted through the area and large trucks will not be allowed to make a left turn from Main Street onto Hovander Road during those hours.  Instead, they will have to loop through downtown Ferndale and approach Hovander from the west to make a right turn.  Also, during the eastbound lane closure, the right turn lane from Hovander Road onto Main Street will be closed to all traffic.

It’s a one-day closure, so if you can avoid that area from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, do it.  There will be signage and flaggers on the scene to direct traffic.  Pack your patience if you drive through the area and slow down so crews can safely do their work.
