WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A single-vehicle collision snarled traffic and shut down traffic lights on the Guide Meridian on Tuesday evening, June 4.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says the collision happened at the intersection of the Guide and Smith Road and the driver then fled the scene.

That collision knocked out traffic signals north of the intersection.

The traffic signal at Smith and Hannegan lost power as well.

Puget Sound Energy crews were able to restore power to the majority of the lights by around 7:30 p.m.

The Sheriff’s office says they are searching for the suspect driver but have not released any other information.
