WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Critical information for the water adjudication process will be decided on this week.

Adjudication for the Nooksack River Basin will legally determine who has water rights and is characterized as a massive lawsuit against some 30,000 water users in Whatcom and parts of Skagit County.

The upcoming Whatcom County Superior Court hearing on Wednesday, June 26, will review the process and set a date to order the state Department of Ecology to send a summons to water users involved in the lawsuit.

Water users impacted by this adjudication will have one year to fill out and return their court claim form after it is received.

Wednesday’s hearing takes place at 9:30 a.m. in the County Council Chambers. There are a limited number of seats available, so the hearing will also be available to live stream online.
