WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It’s the second weekend of the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden and once again, it’s going to be packed with fun activities for everyone.

Once you have bought your entry ticket, there are plenty of free events to check out including the Northwest Washington Car Show, The Ninja Experience, Cirque Cyber, the Grandstand Horse Show and the Barnyard Racers.

The grandstand show on Friday, Aug. 16 will feature a couple of rock legends. Ace Frehley from KISS and Steven Adler, the original drummer from Guns N’ Roses, will play hits from KISS and Guns N’ Roses. The show starts at 7 p.m. Get your tickets at nwwafair.com.

So, head on up to the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden this weekend. Enjoy some tasty fair food, check out all 0f the amazing animals and farmers, but most importantly, have fun!

Next up is an opportunity to have some fun and raise money for a great cause.

On the night of May 17, 2024, 14-year-old Owen Morton passed away after sustaining injuries from a motocross accident at Hannegan Speedway. Since then, Owen’s father Ben Morton has partnered with Skagit Community Foundation to open Owen’s Injured Riders and Gear for Kids Foundation to raise money to buy safety gear for kids and to provide a locker with safety gear at Hannegan Speedway. A majority of the money raised will go to help injured riders with medical bills.

This Sunday, Aug. 18, Owen’s Memorial Ride will take place at Hannegan Speedway to raise money for the cause. The event is open to riders and the public and will run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food, an auction, a raffle and an open track for riders. All the proceeds from the auction and raffle will go to Owen’s Injured Riders and Gear for Kids Foundation.

Rider registration is $30, and tickets are $10 at the gate. To donate directly to the cause, contact Ben Morton at owensinjuredridersngearforkids@gmail.com.

Now for some local live music. How does some good old fashioned punk rock sound?

Our featured live show this weekend is at Ramble Tamble in downtown Bellingham. On Saturday, Aug. 17, Girl Drink Drunks, True Stars and Chubasco will rock the joint with a punk rock extravaganza. Girl Drink Drunks is coming up from Portland for this one, so you don’t want to miss it.

The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are just $10. It’s a 21 plus event and capacity is limited. Head on down to Ramble Tamble at 1313 State Street and enjoy!
