WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – We’re just days away from Whatcom County’s first water adjudication hearing.

A spokesperson for the Superior Court says that the hearing will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9:30 a.m. in the County Council Chambers.

As the case covers tens of thousands of water users, limited seating will be available in person. The court will also live-stream the hearing to prevent overcrowding.

Water adjudication is a legal process to review an area’s water use and resolve water management disputes.

MyBellinghamNow laid out the basics of the process and addressed community concerns in our Adjudi-what?! series, which you can read here and here.

Over 30,000 Whatcom County residents are required to file a court claim form in the next year and will appear in court throughout this process. Those only using water from a city or other public source are exempt from filing.
