BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham man is in critical condition after police say his roommate tried to kill him.

Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters says officers responded at about 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex on Sterling Drive.

They found the victim severely wounded and he was transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center that night.

Surveillance video from the complex showed the victim carrying groceries to his apartment when he was gunned down. Officers obtained a search warrant and contacted 19-year-old Alexis Molina, who shared the apartment with the man.

A police dog trained to detect firearms reacted to a safe in the apartment and a handgun consistent with evidence at the scene was found inside.

Officers arrested Molina on suspicion of 1st degree attempted murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
