WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A burn ban has been issued for a portion of Whatcom County.

The Northwest Clean Air Agency (NWCAA) says that residents living in Columbia Valley, Peaceful Valley and Paradise Lakes are now under a stage 2 burn ban.

Burning is only allowed if a wood stove is a home’s only source of heat. Any other types of burning, both indoor and outdoor, is banned until further notice.

NWCAA says that stagnant air and a lack of wind is preventing smoke particles from clearing out of the area.

The ban is expected to remain in effect for at least the next few days.
